When is a shiatsu treatment suitable?
A shiatsu treatment is almost always a good idea. It works with your body’s natural energy and helps restore balance. This is something most people can benefit from. Shiatsu can be especially helpful if you:
experience tension or stress-related complaints
are not feeling entirely like yourself
feel mentally out of balance
are dealing with physical discomfort or pain
During the treatment, your energy is gently stimulated and encouraged to flow in areas where it may feel blocked. This may sound abstract, but the effect is often felt immediately: you leave feeling more relaxed and energized. By restoring balance in your body’s energy system, both physical and mental complaints may be reduced.
Shiatsu is also beneficial even when you have no specific complaints. It is a wonderful way to relax, strengthen your inner balance, and help prevent future health issues. It can be your way of actively supporting your own wellbeing and health.
In the case of fever, a treatment is not recommended.
How often should I take a shiatsu treatment in order to feel results?
This question cannot be answered unambiguously. A single treatment is, in itself, beneficial for your health and overall wellbeing. Most people notice a significant difference afterwards—they feel more relaxed and experience a greater sense of calm.
Long-standing complaints may also improve after a treatment, but are often not fully resolved. In such cases, we can look at a treatment plan to help reduce symptoms more sustainably. Through a series of sessions, you may experience more lasting results for the issue you are coming in with—whether it concerns back or hip pain, or mental tension and stress.
Together, we will look at what is most suitable for your individual situation.
How do I prepare for a treatment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement, such as sweatpants or leggings combined with a loose or stretchy top. If you tend to feel cold easily, feel free to bring a warm sweater and/or socks.
It is best not to come to the treatment on a very full stomach. Preferably, eat well in advance and keep your meal light.
You may wish to come into the treatment with an intention. This can be the relief of a specific complaint, or a more general feeling you would like to cultivate—such as reconnecting with your body, feeling more grounded, or getting out of your head. This is not required, but it can be helpful to reflect in advance on what you would like to get out of the session, so we can consciously focus on that during the treatment.

What does a treatment look like?
A treatment begins with a short intake conversation to discuss how you are feeling and what you would like to focus on.
During the treatment, you remain fully clothed—preferably wearing comfortable, warm, and flexible clothing such as sweatpants and a T-shirt. You lie comfortably on a tatami mat on the floor. The treatment consists of slow, flowing movements in which I:
• apply gentle pressure using thumbs, palms, and occasionally elbows
• move and stretch your body in a relaxed and supportive way
• work along energy channels and specific pressure points
The treatment is performed without the use of oil. I work on your whole body, with extra attention given to areas that need it most. The pressure is firm yet comfortable—never painful. This allows you to deeply relax during the session.
Afterwards, you are given a moment to rest and come back gently. It is recommended to take it easy for the rest of the day so the treatment can fully integrate. It is also important to drink plenty of water.
A treatment lasts approximately 60 minutes, including the intake and time to rest afterwards. When booking, 70 minutes is reserved to allow for a slight overrun, ensuring there is no rush at the end. That would be a shame after such a deeply relaxing treatment!
