After my first professional massage as a child, I quickly became a fan. The touch was something that instantly calmed my mind and relaxed my tight muscles. As an adult the wisdom of Eastern philosophy and healing arts became clear time and again after running into the shortfalls of Western medicine during my own healing journey. In pursuit of a holistic approach to body work, I discovered Shiatsu! I studied at Sourcepoint Shiatsu in 2003-2004 with Ted Thomas where I learned Zen Shiatsu, (focus on acupressure points and meridians that connect the many systems of the body) and an integrated approach to anatomy, physiology and Traditional Chinese Medicine theory.
After 8 years of fullfilling Shiatsu practice in Vancouver, BC, my partner Peter and I moved to the Comox Valley in 2012. Smitten by the people and energized by the natural surroundings, this is where we call home and have decided to set up "shop!" With Peter and his carpentry skills and me with my healing vision, the Shiatsu Space has been born. My hope is that this space, the surrounding gardens and the flow of the tides will inspire and invigorate every treatment.

"I received a Shiatsu massage from Melissa after a long bout of recurring back problems that interfered with my day to day life and ability to exercise. I tried other types of massage therapy and they were helpful temporarily but after Melissa's Shiatsu massage my back pain actually disappeared! Her treatment was calming and therapeutic and I can't wait to go back!" -Shannon Wind
